The highly agricultural area has been exporting these goods succsessfully for more than a century. Some imports are machinery, raw materials , chemicals, grains, and consumer goods. There is no question that now in time Denmark is a developed country and is very stable.

Ethnic / Religious Makeup

Many people in Denmark have had roots there, and are proud of there danish ethnicity. The Danish ethnicity is made up of Scandinavian, Inuit,German, Turkish and Somali descent. The major religion in Denmark is specifically the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Denmark. Islam is the second largest religion due to the immigration in the 1980's and 90's. There is religous tension in schools. Conflict arises when the Muslim students harass Danish students for not fasting. http://islamineurope.blogspot.com/2008/09/denmark-religious-pressure-in-schools.html

Problems

Immigration in Denmark is one of the countries major issues. The Danish government is still having trouble solving the issue and is getting no help from the EU. Wind power is another struggle. Windmills in Denmark are causing environmental damage and are highly priced. While Denmark tries to help struggling countries with their debt, they have debt issues themselves. Denmark has concluded that the only way to solve these issues is to reduce the debt. Air pollution is another problem. with little land mass the polution is getting to the North Sea and ruining the drinking water. Denmark is also suffering with Employment issues. Because of the current debt, the once easy going hire and fire at will atmosphere has changed and is beginning to tighten up.

Solutions

I think that the immigration problem is hard to fix. They should increase the awareness of the imigrants and build a wall as mighty as the Great Wall of China. If windmills are causing so much damage then they should find an alternate source of energy. They could use solar panels instead for power. They should quit worrying about other countries in debt and worry about themselves for awhile. Let all the exporting lead the country until it is stable again. A switch to hybrid vehicles can give relief to the pollution as well as more efficient water filter program. Once the debt gets better, the employment wont be as big of an issue, but for now they can create more jobs that benefit the country. They could create jobs that help filter water and ease pollution.
